rockstar sent influencers a mystery merch box and it's way cooler than the collector's edition

Saw a few influencers post about getting a package from Rockstar out of nowhere. No announcement, just a box showing up at their door. Some of them did unboxing videos and the stuff inside looks legit. Not the cheap plastic junk you'd expect from a promo kit.

People are already comparing it to the $400 collector's box that was up for preorder. And yeah, I get why. The collector's box felt like a cash grab to me, mostly a steelbook and some art cards with a big price tag. This influencer merch actually looks like something you'd want on your shelf. Real effort went into it.

The kicker is Rockstar isn't selling this stuff separately. It's just for creators. So regular fans can't buy it even if they wanted to. Classic move honestly. Dangle the cool thing in front of everyone and then keep it locked behind an invite.

I'm not saying the collector's edition is worthless, but when the free influencer box looks better than the thing they charged $400 for, something's off. Maybe it's just the lighting or the excitement of getting something unexpected, but the side by side shots floating around don't do the collector's box any favors.

Rockstar knows how to make people want what they can't have. That's been their playbook for years with GTA Online and limited drops. This is just the next version of it.
