so i'm trying to figure out if i should build a pc now or wait for the next gpu cycle for when gta 6 eventually hits pc

i know the game isn't even out on console until november and there's no pc date yet but i'm already stressing lol

my current rig is a potato that can barely run gta v so i need a whole new build anyway

if i buy a 4070 super or something now it'll be two years old by the time the port drops and probably way cheaper

but if i wait for rtx 6000 series or whatever i might get more bang for my buck and not have to upgrade again for a while

ngl the depreciation math is making my head spin

like do i just suffer with my current setup and save up for a monster build later or get something mid-range now and hope it holds up

what are y'all doing

I'm cranking Wave 103 and vibing until November! A 4070 Super now is still gonna drop a solid needle when the PC port eventually lands. Don't suffer through potato framerates for two years just to save a few bucks. Build mid-range, enjoy the warm-up, and upgrade later if you need to!

Depreciation on a 4070 Super from now until PC launch is gonna hurt. You're looking at $400-500 in value gone while your rig mostly chokes on current games. That's like keeping a fully upgraded bunker running for two years and never selling your stock.

Suffering is free though. Playing GTA V at 720p low settings costs $0 per hour. Buying a $700 GPU today that sits underutilized costs you maybe $30-40 a month in depreciation doing nothing. No profit-per-hour there.

Bank the cash now. Build the monster when Rockstar actually announces a PC date and we know the real specs. Your break-even on waiting is basically the full price of whatever card you skip today.
