daft punk reportedly turned down an unlimited budget for the gta 6 soundtrack

Saw this on Dexerto this morning and I'm still processing it. Daft Punk were apparently offered an unlimited budget to work on the GTA 6 soundtrack and they still said no.
Rockstar doesn't get turned down often, especially when money isn't an object. The duo has been quiet since they split in 2021, so maybe it's not that surprising they'd pass on a project this big. But an unlimited budget from Rockstar for a GTA soundtrack? That's the kind of offer most artists would sign without reading the fine print.
I keep thinking about what could have been. Daft Punk on a Vice City radio station, or maybe an original score for some missions. The synthwave energy would fit Leonida perfectly. Now we'll probably never know what they would have cooked up.
It also makes me wonder how many other big names Rockstar approached before locking in whoever ended up on the final tracklist. If Daft Punk walked away, the list of artists who said yes must be stacked.
Who else do you think Rockstar tried to get for the GTA 6 soundtrack before they got a yes?
