Rumor: 'Welcome to Vice City' tourism video first week of August, then character intros, then gameplay in September
Saw this post on r/GTA6 and figured it was worth sharing here. Somebody claiming to have inside info on the next few months of marketing. Grain of salt, obviously, but the timeline lines up with what a lot of us have been guessing.
First week of August: a 'Welcome to Vice City' tourism-style video, mixing gameplay and cinematic shots. Shorts and long-form versions across YouTube and X.
Last week of August: three character intro videos — Lucia, Jason, and a third character. Might pivot to a straight story trailer depending on how the character vids perform.
Last week of September: a pure gameplay video, still being finalized, with 'a lot of goodies and online update.'
The poster mentions internal drama over the disc backlash, saying Rockstar wants that to die down before they start releasing more. That part actually rings true. The whole physical vs digital debate got loud after the pre-order details dropped, and I can see them wanting a clean slate before the next big push.
A third character besides Lucia and Jason is a wild claim. The poster admits they don't even know who it is, so maybe it's just a placeholder or something that got scrapped. Could be a returning face from Vice City Stories or a new antagonist. If it's real, I'm curious how they'd handle a third protagonist without bloating the story.
The tourism video idea sounds very Rockstar. They love their in-universe ads and travelogues, and a 'Welcome to Vice City' spot would be a perfect way to show off the map without a full-blown trailer. The September gameplay deep dive is what I'm most hyped for. 'Online update' could mean our first real look at GTA Online 2.0, which they've been dead silent about.
What do you think? Is this schedule plausible, or just another fanfic? And if there is a third character, who would you want it to be?
