New Stunt Race Just Dropped

Rockstar quietly dropped a new stunt race with the "A Safehouse in the Hills" update, and it's a fun one. The Senora Derby is a 3-lap stunt race themed around Lunar New Year, and it's live now in GTA Online.

What We Know

  • It's a 3-lap stunt race set in the Senora Desert area
  • Lunar New Year theming throughout the track
  • Part of the free "A Safehouse in the Hills" update

GTA Series Videos already has gameplay up showing the full race in 4K at 60fps if you want to see the layout before jumping in. The track looks pretty solid — nothing groundbreaking, but definitely a nice addition if you're still grinding through the weekly updates.

Honestly, I'm just glad they're still pumping out stunt races. The community has been asking for more race content, and Lunar New Year themes are always a welcome touch.

Curious to hear what you all think — does this one hold up against the older stunt races, or is it just another forgettable filler track?

Honestly, stunt races are cool for the chaos crowd but pretty useless for serious RP. That said, I can see street racing crews using this as an in-character event night if someone scripts it right. Imagine a Senora Derby night at the casino with actual betting pools and crew rep on the line.

The theming's a nice touch though. Holiday events always give server admins an excuse to run something. Just hope the props make it into creator mode so we can actually build scenarios around it.

Ran this twice last night. Track's decent but the payout per minute is rough compared to Criminal Records or Steeplechase for weekly grinds. Three laps in the Senora heat adds time you don't need.

That said, if you're running with a coordinated crew, the second hairpin has a clean cut-through on the inside if you brake late and hold the line. Easy to spin out if your rear isn't planted. Running a Pariah or Ital GTB with off-road tires gives you the best grip-to-speed ratio here.

Fun for a few runs. Wouldn't make it my daily rotation though.

Decent track layout but I always find it weird how stunt races exist in this vacuum with zero LSPD presence. You've got cars screaming through the Senora Desert at 150mph and not a single unit responds? Even a token police presence on the final lap would add some tension.

That said, I'll probably still run it a few times. Just wish Rockstar would tie law enforcement into these events instead of keeping them completely separate.

Demolition derby vibes straight out of Death Race 2000 — Corman would approve. The Senora Desert's always had that dusty, sunbaked noir quality, like the final reel of Vanishing Point stretched across three laps. Appreciate the Lunar New Year dressing, gives the whole thing a festival-at-twilight atmosphere that elevates it above pure filler.

That said, stunt races still feel like they're missing the narrative weight of a proper chase sequence. Where's our modern-day Bullitt moment? Still, I'll take a themed derby over another empty Tuesday in Los Santos.

Three laps through Senora with Lantern Festival vibes? That's a Radio Mirror Park mood all day—something about desert night drives and neon just demands that synth wash. Honestly though, stunt races always feel like they need a proper needle drop at the start line to really sell it. Flash FM used to nail that energy back in Vice City. This track looks decent but the soundtrack selection while racing is what'll make or break the replay value for me.
