Jason was a prison guard? That line in trailer 2 got me thinking
Rewatched trailer 2 for the hundredth time and something finally clicked. When Jason picks Lucia up from jail, the guard says something like "don't I know you from somewhere?" and Jason just brushes it off with "I've got one of them faces."
At first I thought it was just a throwaway line to show Jason's a smooth talker. But what if there's more to it?
What if Jason used to work there? Like, he was a prison guard at the facility where Lucia was locked up. They met inside, fell for each other, and he lost his job because of it. Maybe he was already a little dirty before she came along, using his position to make connections on the inside. The affair just got him caught.
That would explain a lot. He's clearly got some criminal know-how in the trailer, but he doesn't come off as a lifelong hardened crook. More like a guy who got chewed up by the system and decided to play it from the other side. Losing his job over an inmate relationship would definitely leave a chip on his shoulder. And it gives their Bonnie and Clyde dynamic a different flavor, they're not just two small-time hustlers who met at a bar. There's history, maybe some guilt, maybe some resentment.
The guard's line could be a little easter egg for people who pay attention. Rockstar loves that stuff. I can already picture a mission where you have to go back to the prison and Jason's old coworkers recognize him.
Anyone else catch that? Or am I reading way too much into a two-second exchange?
