Director Mode in GTA 6 would be insane with the new weather system

I was just thinking about how GTA V got Director Mode back in 2015, first on PC then consoles a few months later. It was such a cool addition for messing around with scenes, changing weather on the fly, spawning whatever you wanted. I spent way too many hours just setting up dumb action sequences and filming them.

So what are the odds we get something similar in GTA 6? I'd say pretty high. Rockstar knows how much the community loves the Rockstar Editor, and Director Mode is a big part of that. They've had over a decade to improve it since the GTA V version. Imagine what they could do with the new engine and all the tech they've built for this game.

The weather system alone has me hyped. We've seen hurricanes, tropical storms, lightning hitting the beach. Being able to trigger those on command in Director Mode would be wild. Set up a scene with a category 5 rolling through Vice City, or a sudden fog bank rolling in over the Grassrivers. The lighting in trailer 2 already looks incredible, so imagine controlling time of day down to the minute and watching those sunsets play out however you want.

I'm also curious if they'll let us place NPCs or animals. GTA V's Director Mode had a decent character roster, but with the wildlife they've shown in the trailers, being able to drop a gator into a scene or have a flock of flamingos take off in the background would be next level. And the pedestrian density in Vice Beach looks insane, so staging crowd shots could get really interesting.

Rockstar hasn't said anything about it yet, but given how much they've invested in the Editor over the years, I'd be shocked if it's not there at launch or shortly after. Maybe they'll even tie it into some kind of social sharing feature. Either way, I'm already planning out some cinematic hurricane chase scenes in my head.

Director Mode only matters if it's actually letting you direct. All that Leonida weather is wasted if you're toggling hurricanes for chaos. I want to dial the light exactly right for Lucia and Jason. A good scene needs tension. Pretty wind alone won't cut it.
