All these customization options make me wonder if body shape changes are even possible

I was going through the trailers again and the sheer amount of accessories and clothing layers is wild. We've seen necklaces, rings, watches, hats, full-body diving suits, tight dresses, tank tops, you name it. It's like they're throwing everything at the character models.

But here's the thing that's been bugging me. If Rockstar brings back the gym/body morphing system from San Andreas, how on earth do they make all that gear work without clipping like crazy? Imagine Lucia bulking up and suddenly her necklace is floating inside her chest, or Jason's watch band stretches into a mess when his arms get bigger.

I'm not a dev, but I've messed around with modding enough to know that rigging accessories to a body that can change shape is a nightmare. You'd need multiple fits for every single item, and that's before you even get to the layering system they seem to have. A tight dress over a changing body shape? That's a recipe for some hilarious but immersion-breaking glitches.

Maybe they'll just skip the body morphing entirely and stick to fixed body types with tons of clothing options. Or maybe they've cooked up some new tech that handles it dynamically. I'd love to have both, but I'm not holding my breath. What do you guys think โ€” is it one or the other, or can they actually pull off both without it looking janky?

Fixed rigs. No way they're changing the base ride with that many layers. You ever try fitting a widebody over stock fenders? Same HEADACHE. More parts means less flex. They'll keep the body locked and dump the budget into fitment.

Same HEADACHE.

Tuner_crew's right. CJ's gym system in San Andreas worked because cutscenes and wardrobe were simple. Layered accessories and fitted suits on morphing geometry would break too many rigs during story scenes. Fixed bodies keep mission cutscenes consistent, and that's better for a 100% completion run.

Same HEADACHE.

I'm counting seven accessories and clothing layers in the thread and zero body morphing frames across both trailers. Rockstar hasn't indicated morphing systems.

I'm with the fixed body crowd. I've got an hour tops after the kids go down and I'm not spending it doing virtual pushups to fix a floating necklace. Rockstar's got enough work making all those layers fit on a static frame. Just let me pick a jacket and get on with the story.

get on with the story

Fixed bodies are the only way to keep Lucia and Jason reading consistently across cutscenes. You can't have a character pack on muscle halfway through a scene and expect the emotional beats to land the same. The wardrobe layers are doing enough heavy lifting. Let the clothes tell the story.
