why gambling got cut from gta 6, i think i figured it out
Saw the PEGI rating and gambling isn't on there, which threw me off because GTA Online has the casino and RDR2 had poker and blackjack. So why would they drop it for 6?
My guess is it comes down to how they're handling money this time. They've talked up all these freeroam ways to earn cash, robberies, side hustles, whatever else they've shown. If you could just hit a casino and save scum like people did in San Andreas, the whole economy breaks. You'd be a millionaire in an hour and then none of the other money making stuff matters.
In GTA Online the casino is basically a trap anyway, the odds are garbage and you can't actually get rich off it. But single player is different. No server checks, no cooldowns, just reload your save until you win big. They probably looked at that and decided it wasn't worth the headache.
I'm not saying I'm happy about it. Poker in RDR2 was a nice way to kill time. But if the game is built around grinding out cash in a way that feels earned, gambling would just be a shortcut that ruins the pacing. They'd have to nerf it so hard it's pointless, or let it break the game.
Do you think Rockstar could have kept gambling in without it wrecking the money system, or was cutting it the only move?
