someone lined up Lucia's jump shot with the Vice City skyline and now my brain hurts
Alright, this one got me. A user over on r/GTA6 pulled a screenshot of Lucia mid-jump with the Vice City skyline sitting way off in the distance, then dropped the map view next to it to show where she's actually standing and which way she's facing. The point being: that skyline is far. Like, properly far.
Then they did the part that broke me. Going off that distance, Vice Beach's width alone comes out to roughly 1.3 to 1.5 times the gap between Lucia and those buildings. So the beach. Just the beach. The sandy strip you'd jog across in a couple minutes in real life.
and that's one little corner of Leonida
That's the bit I keep coming back to. Vice Beach is a sliver of the map. We're talking about a state here, Vice City plus the Keys, Grassrivers, Mount Kalaga, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia. If one beach is eating up that much horizontal space, the full thing is going to be a different kind of commitment.
I remember people doing this same exercise with GTA 5 before launch, measuring street widths against character heights and swearing Los Santos would be enormous. Some of it held up, some of it didn't. Perspective tricks are a thing, and a distant skyline rendered small doesn't automatically mean miles of walkable ground between you and it.
It will take forever to explore.
Which, honestly, is the dream and the nightmare at once. I've got a job. I've got a backlog. And now I'm supposed to find time to drive every road in a state that might be wider than I can picture? November 19 is going to eat a chunk of my life and I'm fine with that.
The flip side is fast travel and density. Big empty space is worse than small packed space. Rockstar's usually good about filling the gaps, but we've only seen what they want us to see.
Anyone else doing napkin math on screenshots, or am I the only one measuring pixels at 2am?
