those new screenshots got me thinking about how many NPCs in Leonida will actually have their own lives

Been scrolling through the screenshot drop like everyone else and something clicked for me. The world Rockstar's built this time feels packed with people who have their own thing going on. You're not the center of it anymore. You're just walking through it.

Think about how many faces we saw in that gallery and how few of them we can actually name. That's the point, I think. Some of these folks probably don't get a cutscene intro or a nameplate. They're just out there living, and you'll catch them mid-life when you walk past.

choices and grudges

The part I keep chewing on is the idea that who you talk to and how you treat them might stick. Grudges going both ways. Not just you holding a grudge against some guy who screwed you over, but someone out there remembering your face for the wrong reasons. That's a different kind of world simulation than what we got in V, where the map was alive but the people were basically scenery with voice lines.

Could be nothing. Could be everything. Rockstar's been quiet on how deep any of that goes, and I'm not about to pretend I know. But the vibe of those shots leans hard into lived-in. Bars with regulars. Streets with people who clearly have somewhere to be.

We are simply part of its world.

That line from the original post is the one that got me. Jason and Lucia are the story, sure. But if Leonida is dense enough with characters who have their own interests and their own reasons to care or not care about you, then the replay value goes through the roof. You could do a whole run as a decent guy and another as someone half the state wants dead.

keeping expectations in check

I've been burned by hype before. We all have. So I'm filing this under "hope" and not "confirmed feature list." Still, the screenshots are doing a lot of heavy lifting on their own. Every background face looks like it belongs to somebody. That's more than I can say for most open worlds.

November 19 can't come fast enough. I just want to stand on a corner in Vice City and watch the place breathe for ten minutes before I even touch a mission.
