Caught a small detail in the Port Gellhorn screenshots — NPCs and Jason biting their lip
Was going back through the Port Gellhorn screenshots the other day and noticed something I'd missed. There's a lady in one of them, and she's biting her lip. Just a tiny little expression, but it caught my eye.
Then I rewatched trailer 2 at 0.25x speed (yeah, I'm that desperate) and saw Jason doing the exact same thing in one of the cutscenes. Same subtle lip bite. It's not a major animation, but it's the kind of thing you'd never see in GTA V or even RDR2.
If Rockstar's putting that level of micro-expression into random NPCs and not just the main characters, the facial animation system must be a huge leap forward. I'm already the type who felt bad capping random townsfolk in RDR2. GTA 6 is gonna make me feel like a monster if every pedestrian has that much life in their face.
We're all starving for info, I know. But these tiny details are exactly why I don't mind the wait. Rockstar's polishing stuff most devs wouldn't even think about. Trailer 3 can't come soon enough though.

That's a 95% upgrade over GTA V's facial rig. It reminds me of RDR2's 'American Venom'.

Those little tells are gonna hit different when there's a perfect night drive and the dial's locked on something moody! Reminds me of old Flash FM energy, except now the NPCs actually look alive when the chorus drops. I'm gonna feel like such a monster during a wanted level!
ok so i pulled up that Port Gellhorn shot again and you're right, she's totally doing the lip thing, once you spot it you can't stop seeing it everywhere in that trailer.
what gets me is that
95% upgradeis hitting random NPCs and Jason both. in GTA V the background characters had like three emotional states. angry, dead, or eating a sandwich. if Leonida's populace all have these tiny tells then every encounter is gonna feel weighted differently.
i'm already budgeting extra time just to people-watch before i even touch a mission. Rockstar's definitely cooking something nasty with that facial tech and i am so here for it.
95% upgrade
is gonna cost me $75K/hour in lost nightclub income because I'm staring at NPCs instead of grinding. Pain.
