Hijacking cars in GTA 6 might not be as simple as running up and yanking the door
Been thinking about how carjacking could change in Leonida. In every GTA so far, you just sprint up to a moving car, tap the button, and your character magically opens the door and tosses the driver out. Even if they're going 40 mph. It's always been a little silly, but we accepted it because it's GTA.
Modern cars are a different beast though. Most of them auto-lock the doors once you hit a certain speed. Some EVs have those flush door handles that pop out only when you unlock the car. Good luck grabbing one of those while the car is rolling. So if Rockstar is going for more realism with the vehicle details, I could see hijacking getting a bit more involved.
Maybe you can't just open the door on a moving car anymore. You might need to:
- Smash the window first, then reach in to unlock it
- Intimidate the driver by pointing a gun at them through the glass
- Wait for the car to stop at a red light or in traffic
- Use a tool or melee weapon to break in
It would add a nice layer of decision-making. Do you risk a noisy smash-and-grab, or wait for a clean opportunity? Could make police chases even more tense if you can't just instantly steal any car that drives by.
I'm not saying it should be a full simulation, but a small tweak like this would make the world feel more grounded. And it's the kind of detail Rockstar loves to put in. What do you guys think, would a more realistic hijacking system make the game better or just annoying?
