I bet some Rockstar devs are as starved for info as we are
We all know Rockstar is insanely secretive. But I was thinking about how that must feel from the inside. The way they split up teams, most devs only see their tiny slice of the project. Someone could spend six months perfecting car door animations or tweaking pedestrian walk cycles and have zero clue what the full map looks like or how the story plays out.
That level of compartmentalization is wild. It means there are probably people working on GTA 6 right now who don't know what Vice City looks like in the final build. They might not even know the names of the protagonists they're animating. They're just given a task, a reference, and a deadline.
So here's my theory: some of those devs are lurking here. They're just as hungry for a trailer or a screenshot as we are. They want to see how their work fits into the bigger picture. Imagine spending a year modeling car interiors and then finally seeing them in a gameplay clip, same as us. I'd be refreshing this sub every five minutes if I were them.
It's a funny thought. The people building the most anticipated game on the planet might be piecing it together from the same crumbs we are.

Compartmentalization is real, but they still see daily builds. They know how their work fits. The ones actually starved are the marketing team. They're desperate to control every crumb of the narrative.

Disagree hard on that. If you're rigging door hinges all day you ain't booting up the full state of Leonida to cruise around.
The vehicle team though? THEY know. You can't tune suspension without feeling the Grassrivers or the Mount Kalaga switchbacks. Those devs are probably running laps we won't see for months.
Rest of the studio is just bolting on parts blind and praying the alignment ain't trash.
bolting on parts blind
That hits close. I bet the artists texturing the northern Grassrivers don't even know how far south Ambrosia sits relative to Mount Kalaga. (Unless you're stitching the world mesh, you're working from a flat graybox.) Compare it to Los Santos flowing into Blaine County. Someone in Edinburgh has the full state of Leonida rendered. Everyone else is just tossing palm trees into the void.
Imagine crafting Lucia's walk cycle without knowing she's fleeing or chasing. The body tells a story the dev never hears.
