What resolution and framerate are we expecting for GTA 6 on current consoles?

Been going back and forth on this since the pre-order went live. Rockstar's track record on last gen was pretty straightforward — GTA V and RDR2 both hit 1080p on base PS4, native 4K on Xbox One X, and that awful checkerboard 4K on PS4 Pro. I really don't want to see checkerboarding again.

They've never messed with dynamic resolution scaling the way most PS5 games do, so I'm not expecting them to start now. My guess is we're looking at 1080p30 on Series S, 1440p30 on PS5 and Series X, and maybe native 4K30 on the PS5 Pro. A 60fps mode feels like a long shot — not because the hardware can't handle it, but because Rockstar usually locks things down for consistency and visual spectacle. They'll want that 30fps baseline to push draw distance, traffic density, and all the little details.

I'd love to be wrong and see a performance mode, but I'm not holding my breath. If they can give us a clean upscaled 4K with solid frame pacing, I'll take it. Just please no checkerboarding.

Rockstar won't sacrifice their visual showcase for 60fps. A locked 30fps is guaranteed.

As for native 4K on Pro, I'll believe it when I see it. Marketing loves plastering big numbers on the box. Reality usually involves clever upscaling and a downgrade patch six months after launch. Still hoping I'm wrong.

30fps in 2026? That's like running STOCK when you got room for a tune. Straight robbery.

I don't care. Gimme a performance mode. 1440p60. Let me dial back traffic density myself. Pop the hood on settings.

Native 4K is a pipe dream anyway. My bet is 1440p30 base and maybe 40fps on Pro. We'll see.

if only. rp servers would kill for that kind of control over traffic density and draw distance. locked 30 dont bother me as long as the pacing is clean. on RP you notice stutter way more than resolution drops. give me stable 30 over a choppy 40 any day.

Exactly this. Here in Brazil we deal with enough lag already, don't need stutter in Vice City too. If they lock 30fps, fine, just keep the pacing clean. Checkerboarding is what really worries me.
