I really hope the traffic density in VI means we can't just swerve through everything like GTA V

Been rewatching the trailers and the traffic looks insanely dense. Like, the highway shots show cars packed together in a way that would make needle threading almost impossible. And those patents Rockstar filed about realistic AI behavior and vehicle dynamics have me thinking they're actually going to force us to drive properly this time.

In GTA V you could just floor it and weave through anything. It was fun for a while but it made driving feel weightless. The VI trailer makes the lanes look narrower and the cars seem to have more mass. I'm hoping that means if you try to squeeze between two sedans at 100mph you'll clip a mirror and spin out. Not full sim, but something that punishes you for being reckless beyond just wanted stars.

I know some people hated IV's heavy handling, but there's a sweet spot. The patents mention adaptive AI that reacts to your driving, so maybe the world pushes back harder the crazier you get. That could be the best of both. I just don't want another game where traffic is basically a suggestion. The extended look later this month might give us a better sense, but from what we've seen so far I'm cautiously optimistic.
