brian and raul were cellmates, and that fairground story is a warning

Caught this on a rewatch of the extended look. At 8:33 Lucia asks about 'the guy' and it turns out Brian and Raul were cellmates. Jason chimes in that Raul is former Dominican intelligence. A cellmate with an intelligence background, that's a strange mix for a crew member.

Brian then hands Lucia a job, probably grabbing a getaway car for Raul. The way he frames it, there are strings attached. He tells Jason that fairground story and it reads like a warning about how reckless Raul gets during heists. The 'get off' or 'pull your chips' line feels like Brian telling them to bail if things go sideways.

I keep thinking the fairground story might be doing double duty. It works as a warning about Raul, and it could also be foreshadowing the main story. Maybe a heist goes wrong the same way, or someone doesn't pull their chips in time.

What do you all make of Brian's tone there? Is he genuinely looking out for Lucia and Jason, or is he setting them up to take the fall if Raul goes off script?
