GTA 6 TRAILER 3 — EXTENDED LOOK BREAKDOWN

Status: released. "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" — the video most fans were calling Trailer 3 — premiered on Netflix on August 27, 2026, then on Rockstar's own YouTube channel and the GTA VI website six hours later. It is a 26-minute, entirely in-game presentation captured on PS5, and it's the biggest look at GTA 6 gameplay since the game was revealed. Here's everything it confirmed.

Where to watch it

It's free to everyone now, no Netflix account required — Rockstar posted the full 26-minute video to its own YouTube channel and to the Rockstar Newswire the same day. Rockstar also released a 4K downloadable version for anyone who wants a cleaner copy than a YouTube stream. Steer clear of anything calling itself a "leaked Trailer 3" — the real thing has been public since August 27, so any reupload claiming to be exclusive or unreleased footage is fake.

What it showed

The presentation followed Jason and Lucia across Leonida in a mix of missions and everyday life, all captured in-engine — no pre-rendered cinematics:

• Combat and gunplay: updated melee (including an improvised weapon moment with a discarded stiletto heel) and shootouts with contextual takedowns.
• Vehicles and police: car theft, driving, and an extended multi-star police chase with patrol cars and a helicopter, with players swapping between Jason driving and Lucia firing from the passenger seat.
• Character switching: seamless swaps between the two leads in and out of missions, expanding on what Trailer 2 only hinted at.
• Everyday life and side activities: the pair getting ready together, holding hands, working out, going clubbing, parachuting, kayaking, riding a fanboat through Grassrivers, and swimming with dolphins.
• NPC and world detail: a large amount of unique NPC behavior and animation, shown off as evidence of the world's density rather than a single scripted moment.

Rockstar also confirmed, via a Rockstar North press preview covered by outlets including GameSpot, Push Square, and VGC, that the single-player game will ship with no microtransactions and that no generative AI was used in its development — the studio's traditional systems for traffic, pedestrians, and police are unaffected by that statement, it specifically addresses generative AI tools. Separately, Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson said GTA 6 is currently locked to 30fps on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S at launch, with no performance mode confirmed yet.

The reception

On Netflix, the special drew 31.1 million views in its first four days (Aug 28–30) and topped Netflix's global English-language film chart in 87 of 93 tracked countries. On YouTube — where views are counted differently, so the numbers aren't directly comparable — it passed 17 million views on Rockstar's own channel alone. Reaction has been overwhelmingly positive, with most coverage focused on the density of the open world and how much of the presentation was Jason-and-Lucia relationship material rather than a straight action reel.

What's still unknown

Rockstar did not detail a map size, an interior count, or story specifics beyond what's in the footage — those remain community estimates, covered on our map guide. No voice actors were officially confirmed; a few fans spotted actors they believe they recognized in the footage, but until Rockstar publishes a cast list, treat any name as speculation (see our characters page). No further trailers or showcases have been announced before the November 19, 2026 launch.
