Here is every official release in order, what each one showed, and the records they broke along the way. For the bigger picture, start with everything we know about GTA 6.

Trailer 1 — December 4, 2023
The first trailer went live around 6 PM ET on December 4, 2023 — roughly a day ahead of its scheduled December 5 premiere, after the trailer leaked on X. In about 90 seconds, set to Tom Petty's 'Love Is a Long Road', it revealed the game's logo, the Vice City and state of Leonida setting, and Lucia — the series' first non-optional female lead — opening the trailer in prison before launching into a Bonnie-and-Clyde crime spree with her partner Jason. It leaned hard into Florida-meme energy: backyard alligators, mud clubs, and social-media vignettes. It also carried a '2025' release window for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — a date that has since moved twice (see our GTA 6 release date tracker).
The numbers were historic: roughly 46 million views in the first 12 hours and a Guinness-logged 90,421,491 in 24 hours, demolishing MrBeast's 59.4 million record for a non-music video debut. It passed 100 million in under a week and set three Guinness World Records in its first day — most-viewed game trailer, most-viewed non-music YouTube video, and most-liked game trailer. According to Wikipedia's tracking, it sat around 275 million views by March 2026, still the most-viewed non-music trailer in YouTube history. Tom Petty's song spiked roughly 37,000% on Spotify.
Trailer 2 — May 6, 2025
Trailer 2 was a surprise shadow-drop around 9:30 PM ET — no countdown, no teaser — just four days after Rockstar announced the first delay to May 26, 2026. Set to 'Hot Together' by The Pointer Sisters (Spotify streams up ~182,000%), it confirmed the protagonists' full names, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, and put their relationship front and center: Jason picking Lucia up from prison, intimate bed, dancing, and beach scenes, a getaway in the Declasse Tulip, the pair robbing Uncle Jack's Liquor, and Jason fishing with Cal in the Leonida Keys.
On YouTube alone it drew about 75 million views in 24 hours — short of Trailer 1's record, largely because it launched across multiple platforms rather than YouTube-exclusive. Across all platforms, Rockstar reported 475 million views in 24 hours, beating Deadpool & Wolverine's cross-platform record (a Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer has since reportedly passed it with 716 million). Trailer 2 went on to win Best Game Trailer at the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards and sat around 165 million YouTube views as of June 2026, per GTAboom.
The same day, Rockstar overhauled gtavi.com with 70 downloadable screenshots, profiles for eight characters and groups — including Cal Hampton, Boobie Ike, and Raul Bautista (full rundown on our characters page) — and descriptions of six regions of Leonida, from Vice City to Mount Kalaga National Park (see the map & Leonida guide).
Cover-art reveal — June 18, 2026
Rockstar's most recent official video is a ~33-second cover-art reveal: a slow pan across the artwork — Jason and Lucia front and center in Rockstar's signature collage style, with a minigun helicopter, a motorcycle wheelie over a police cruiser, a yellow sports car, and a pastel Vice City sunset — ending with the announcement that pre-orders would open June 25. It drew about 10 million YouTube views in three days, per GTAboom. Rumor: fan analysis claims its guitar-and-synth backing track is the first listen of the game's main theme; Rockstar has not confirmed this.
Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026 alongside a second screenshot batch of 63 images showing customization, businesses, nightlife, and edition content, plus short in-game footage snippets — GamesRadar counts these as the only new in-game glimpses since Trailer 2. Full pricing and bonus details are on our editions & pre-orders page.
Trailer 3 — officially dated, not yet released
On August 6, 2026, Rockstar broke its own pattern: instead of a Newswire post and a straight YouTube drop, it announced a first-of-its-kind partnership with Netflix to premiere "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" on August 27, 2026. Netflix subscribers see it first, at 3 PM ET; everyone else gets it on Rockstar's official YouTube channel and the GTA VI website six hours later, at 9 PM ET the same day. Every previously floated guess — the June 25 pre-order launch, the July 19 World Cup final, insider Tom Henderson's August 6 prediction — came and went with nothing, so the real announcement landed a full three weeks later than the loudest rumors expected. Full breakdown of what's confirmed versus still speculation on our Trailer 3 tracker.
- Confirmed: the date (August 27, 2026), the title ("Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look"), and the platform sequencing (Netflix at 3 PM ET, then YouTube and rockstargames.com at 9 PM ET).
- Not confirmed: Rockstar has not said how long the presentation runs or what it contains. Its title and the timing — over three months after Trailer 2 and just months before launch — have most outlets and fans expecting the first real gameplay footage, but that is inference, not an official description.
- Context: Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had said marketing would ramp in summer 2026, and the Netflix deal is being read as that campaign's opening beat. Some fan reaction has been sharply negative about a highly anticipated reveal sitting behind a Netflix subscription for six hours, even though the presentation is free to everyone by that same evening.

FAQ
Is there a GTA 6 Trailer 3?
Not yet, but it is officially dated. Rockstar and Netflix announced on August 6, 2026 that "Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look" premieres August 27, 2026 — Netflix gets it first at 3 PM ET, with Rockstar's own YouTube channel and the GTA VI website following at 9 PM ET the same day.
When is GTA 6 Trailer 3 coming out?
August 27, 2026. Rockstar confirmed the date via a first-of-its-kind Netflix partnership rather than its usual Newswire-and-YouTube pattern — a break from form that caught even insiders off guard, since every prior guess (the July 19 World Cup final, Tom Henderson's August 6 prediction) had come and gone with nothing. See our Trailer 3 tracker for what is confirmed versus still speculation about the content.

Trailer 2 (May 6, 2025) confirmed the protagonists’ full names — Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos — and centered their Bonnie-and-Clyde romance: Jason picking Lucia up from prison, a Declasse Tulip getaway, robbing Uncle Jack’s Liquor together, and fishing with Cal in the Leonida Keys.

What songs are in the GTA 6 trailers?

How many official GTA 6 screenshots are there?
